Hide and Seek

My two kids have recently discovered the joy of hide and go seek. They still haven't quite got it yet though. When it's their turn to count, they'll count "one, two, nine, ten, seven" and then go look for the person hiding. They both do this. When it's their turn to hide, they'll hide (usually in the same place) but they will giggle and give themselves away.

They've also started taking out all the clothes in their dresser during nap time. I asked goose (my daughter) and noggin (my son) to pick up the mess.

I've found some success in asking them to pick up specific items, instead of picking everything up. (Can you pick up your pajamas?) In the midst of this, my daughter picked up her purse and said "I can't pick up, I'm going to work". I said "it's not time to work, it's time to clean up. I clean up when I go to my work." She responds "I clean up at my work too."

My son picked up his clothes in a pile, and then threw them into the air (so instead of landing in the drawer, they landed back on the floor). After much negotiation, we got the clothes picked up and put back where they belong.

We are also in the midst of potty training. I won't go into the specifics. But I will say, it is not easy.

For all you readers out there who do not have children - there is a reason why parents talk about this often and look for tips and tricks.

So much in parenting, I've found, is different when you're going through it yourself. I thought I had written about this before but I can't find my post.

We are pretty much finished with potty training Lexi (other than sleep times) & it was NOT easy. Good luck! As for the other two things, I am right there with you. Lexi says, "1,2,3-ready or not here I come!" We have to hide quickly. She doesn't like hiding. Her room is a disaster once a day.
